Yes, it's that time of year again. Where trash talking takes over and people who know nothing about college basketball immerse themselves in the sports pages, obsess about checking their brackets, and can't focus on anything except who is winning the next game. And by people, I mean me. And my Mom.
Yes, my Mom just called me and told me she was reading the sports section for the first time in her life. And she is using her new knowledge to update her bracket. Constantly.
Well, here's to the last 30 minutes without any trash talking for the next two weeks. Between the Albany Crew and my family, I can only imagine what will ensue.
And just because it's so awesome, here is the list of who filled out a bracket for the family league. Every. Single. Person. Trash talking and competition--just another family weekend in the Gupta/ Pareek/ Voleti/ Joshi household!
Mom (who changed all the expert picks after doing her research)
Dad (who chose the "historical random" autofill option while packing for London)
Neha (who gets nervous before every game)
Ash (who always loses--but is looking to make a comeback!)
Priya (who taught the "bracket clinic" to the newcomers)
Vinny (who miraculously had time to fill out a bracket)
Chacha (who certainly will be the biggest trash talker)
Chachi (who will be the second biggest trash talker)
Milan (who will come up with an analytical reason for each team's defeat)
Mamaji (who participated in the bracket clinic, but hand-picked his teams)
Mamiji (who intelligently chose an expert bracket autofill, and left it at that)
Pranit (who will be the silent type--until his teams do well)
Pratik (who will lock us out of his home on Memorial day if he does not win)
Zarna (who will open the door once Pratik locks us out, but only if she wins)
Should be an interesting two weeks!
