"Our" Hotel

Maybe everyone has that special hotel that feels like home, even though it could be thousands of miles away. Or, perhaps your honeymoon hotel always holds a special place in your heart. Once we decided we were going to Hawaii, I asked travel junkies what their favorite Hawaiian hotel was. (Luckily, I worked for an airline--travel junkies abound!) One man completely swayed my decision when he stated that he'd been all around the world and stayed in over 500 hotels (he was the Director of Inflight Training at the time, so no surprise there...), and the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea is still his absolute favorite. (Thank you, Stephen Howell!)

After spending a week there for our honeymoon, we couldn't stop thinking about it, and it has become the standard for comparison for every hotel we stay in. (Nothing has even come close.) It was a no-brainer to return for our five-year anniversary, and as soon as we walked in, we decided that we just had to return every five years, and make this "our" hotel. (Plus, any more than that and we'd go broke.) So, you can imagine my glee when I saw this article this morning:

10 Best Hotels in the USA

It's not #1, but #2 ain't bad! It's always in the Conde Nast magazines, etc., but something about seeing its familiar pool on my Yahoo homepage just made my day. :-) If you're a Modern Family fan, it's the same hotel that they filmed their Hawaii episode at. (I believe it's the last episode of Season 1.)

Ash in the same spot right after sunrise, without the bright sunshine and television glamour lighting! :-)

Counting down until we get to go back! :-)
